Eircom to deliver services into CIX
Mar
2011
Up until now, Eircom have only delivered copper based ADSL/ISDN connectivity into CIX. A second duct was added in the past two weeks linking Eircom’s fibre infrastructure to CIX.
To help alleviate any delays with the install, CIX’s Managing Director, Jerry Sweeney, took matters into his own hands and brought in our own contractors to run dual ducts from the Eircom manhole to CIX’s cabling ducts.
Saturday morning, 26th February dawned dull and dreary with the possibilty of rain. This did not stop the entrepid team with their faithful digger who braved the elements and completed the task later the same day.
e:net, BT and Eircom are all now now connected to CIX by fibre. The only remaining fibre carrier of significance in Cork is UPC. Our ducting now extends to within 10m of the UPC ducting and, subject to relevant business contracts it is expected that this provider will also be connected during 2011.
