A couple of interesting factoids

The electrical works for the CIX data centre cost more than all of the civil works!

High Voltage cable

This is the cable to connect the diesel generator to the switch.

It is 63mm in diameter.
It costs around €45 per metre.
Each of the four bundles of copper in the cable above is 240mm2 and the cable is rated for 1,000V.
The steel cables surrounding the copper bundles act as both armour (to stop someone cutting through it and accidentally coming in contact with 1,000V) and as a ground.

It is extremely heavy and difficult to cable around corners!
