CIX Data Centre Raised floor
The guys are installing the CIX data centre raised floor in this photo. If you look carefully you will see a red line on the wall from the laser level they are using.
The floor is raised 800mm. Having it this high will be a big help with the underfloor airflow. Moving air efficiently is one of the big challenges for any data centre.

I’m really surprised it’s so high, I’ve never seen data center with so high floor (but to be honest I’ve only seen those built 4-5 years ago)

Looks like development is progressing very fast.
It is so unusual to see such an intimate insight into datacentre construction, I’ll have to get a tour if I’m ever in Cork

Tom – as I said the reason for the height is to reduce obstructions on airflow – the freer the airflow, the more efficient the cooling becomes.
David, I’ll be delighted to give you a tour whenever you come to Cork.

Hi Tom,
Would in-row cooling not be more ‘modern’ an approach – underfloor will limit you to not much more than 5KW per cab?

Stephen,
thanks for the question. To answer your question properly I have written a separate post addressing it for two reasons:
1. I wanted to give you a comprehensive response and a comment is too short to meet that need and
2. You raised a point that I think many people might be interested in. They will have a better chance of seeing the response in a separate post than a comment here.

Out of curiosity, what raised access floor system did you chose?
